Tips for Maintaining Your Tires

It is inevitable that your tires will need to be replaced one day. Tires are an expensive necessity so you should want to get the most out of your investment. There a few ways you can make your tires last and in the process improve gas mileage.

These tips include:

  • Check your tire pressure at least once a month. Tires with too much or too little air can cause your tire to have a blowout and decrease gas mileage.
  • Get your tires rotated every 5,000 miles. Tires wear unevenly depending on the vehicle, driving style, and other factors. Rotating the tires allows those heavily worn areas to rest and evens out wear.
  • Get your wheels balanced. Unbalanced wheels is another cause of uneven wear. It's easiest to have this done when you're getting your tires rotated.
  • Have your wheel alignment checked twice a year. Misaligned wheels have the tendency to point in or out which decreases gas mileage and increases tread wear.
