The folks at Earthycars want to make you aware of a feature that can minimize eye strain and your risk of an accident. This feature is called the auto-dimming rear mirror, and it helps to reduce the amount of bright light that reflects off of that mirror and into your eyes.

This feature works by detecting light both inside and outside of the car. When the light gets too bright, a current runs though an electrochromic gel that runs until the glare is effectively negated. At this point, the current is discontinued and you can safely look into the rear mirror again.

In addition to an auto-dimming mirror, you can also wear sunglasses or avoid looking into the mirror to protect your eyes. If possible, you can simply wait until the sun goes down to avoid contending with glare of any kind.
